Designed as a Roe call the Hubertus Cherry Wood Call is made from Cherry Wood (and more recently from Hazel) with a reed embedded in the center with the ability to control it’s pitch instantly by use of the the turn screw on the top.
It is a more delicate tone than the Hubertus buttolo blatter with a pitch ranging from feip to kitz which are German derived terms meaning the call a Roe doe makes to attract bucks and the kids distress call used to call for its mother.
Most effective during the peak of the Roe rut, however the ‘kitz’ tone can play on the maternal instinct of a Doe earlier in the year which, when attracted by the calls, can draw out a buck.
Compared with the louder rubber Buttolo Blatter, the Cherry Wood Call produces a more delicate sound. This makes it particularly useful where a softer and more natural call is required or where deer may already have experienced calling pressure.
Although designed primarily for roe deer, Deer Central has also found these more delicate tones effective when calling muntjac.

Using the Call
Place the mouthpiece lightly against the lips and introduce a short, controlled breath. The call should not be blown aggressively.
The tone can be altered with the adjustment screw. Small adjustments are recommended until the desired pitch is achieved.
For the most convincing presentation, use short calling sequences followed by quiet pauses. Avoid continuous or excessive calling.
