About the Leather
The leather is crafted using the traditional method of full vegetable tanning, specifically for English bridle leather. Natural plant-based tannins are applied to gradually enhance the strength and durability of the material. After the tanning process, the hides are meticulously hand-finished to achieve a smooth and even texture. A carefully blended mix of tallow waxes is then hand-applied, conditioning the leather and providing a smooth, resilient finish capable of withstanding wear and tear. This results in a leather that is strong, smooth, and exceptionally durable. The tanning is done in Spain, with the finishing completed by skilled curriers in Northampton, England.
About the Hardware
A small, family-run foundry in Walsall, established in 1832 by the Stanley Brothers, is now owned and operated by Abbey England. Since 1999, they have held a royal warrant from Her Majesty the Queen for saddlery and workshop materials. Using traditional green and sand-casting techniques, they produce hardware that perfectly complements leather, with a focus on classic saddlery and harness designs. Abbey England is the leading supplier to the saddlery and leathercraft industries.
Specifications
The width of the sling at it’s widest top section is 7.5cm / 3inches and at the lower section 4cm / 1.5inches
The buckled straps are 2cm / 3/4 inch wide and will suit 1 inch sling swivels.
The sling length will adjust from 72cm to 80cm with the option of punching additional holes if needed.
